Be a Patient Listener

Responding to your baby’s babbles is a proven way to teach her about communication. But be patient when your speaking companion is still only a few months old. An infant’s reaction time is slower than you might think, so if she gurgles something, and you respond, sit and wait a few beats longer than you think you “should” for her to say her next piece.
