Are We There Yet?

Using car trips to practice some simple math and time-telling skills will help make time fly. When you’re heading to a relative’s house that’s some distance away, start the trip by explaining how long it will take. For example, if it’s a one-hour drive and your child asks how much longer the trip will be after 20 minutes have gone by, say, “Well, it’s an hour drive. Do you know how many minutes that is?” Next, ask, “If we’ve gone 20 minutes so far and the trip is 60 minutes, how many minutes do we have left?” Before you know it, you’ll be at your destination!
