Discover the Sweet Early Reader Books in the Dragon Series

Apr 11, 2022

If your child is graduating from picture books to early chapter books, or you're still reading aloud to them, they’ll love the darling adventures of Dragon. Part of Scholastic’s Acorn line of books, the Dragon series follows an adorable little blue dragon as he navigates different relatable (and often hilarious) situations, like making friends and taking care of his very own pet.

The Dragon series helps beginner readers to improve their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and stamina. Written and illustrated by celebrated author Dav Pilkey (of Dog Man and Captain Underpants fame), children will love the engaging plots, uproarious humor, and eye-catching illustrations.

In the first book, A Friend for Dragon: An Acorn Book (Dragon #1), kids will meet the titular character as he searches high and low for the perfect friend. When an apple falls on his head, Dragon immediately befriends it! He swaps scary stories, tells jokes, and even shares snacks. But when his new apple buddy gets lost, Dragon wonders if he’ll ever find it again.

In Dragon #2: Dragon’s Fat Cat, Dragon crosses paths with a stray cat that he immediately brings home and adopts as his own. Through many hilarious mistakes, Dragon slowly learns how to take care of his cherished new pet, until he gets the ultimate surprise when his cat has a litter of kittens!

Make your bedtime reading time even more cuddly by ordering a plush Dragon to go along with your child's books.
