4 Inspiring Destinations for Families Who Craft

At these inspiring spots, your little one can explore amazing works of art — and then make her own based on what she’s seen.

Learning Benefits

1. The Cloisters (New York, NY)

At this branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art dedicated to the medieval age, try the workshops: June 19, learn about symbols and design a shield; July 3, explore bestiaries (books on animals) and create your own fantastical beast.

2. Longwood Gardens (Kennett Square, PA)

Check out the exhibit Making Scents: The Art and Passion of Fragrance. You’ll learn how perfumes are made and then craft some yourself.

3. The New Children’s Museum (San Diego, CA)

This year’s main exhibition is Animal Art. Five different studios offer pro-guided creative activities for all ages.

4. Denver Art Museum (Denver, CO)

Grab a family backpack or an art tube at the entrance and draw and solve puzzles as you go. There are also unique creative opportunities just for kids at most of the exhibits.
