Farm Alphabet Book
by Jane Miller
Rustic barns and shingled roofs make up the landscape of this delightful picture book. Young readers follow color photos and easy-to-read text through every letter in the alphabet and nearly every aspect of farm life. Photos and words feature livestock and crops, while images of incubators and jam preserves also provide an introduction to the products of agriculture.
Children will especially love the fact that many of the animals photographed are themselves infants — calves, foals, and lambs. The adjoining text introduces these different names, but also includes the names of their parents — bull, stallion, ewe. For the reader who has yet to venture into a farmyard or pasture, Jane Miller's book makes a good beginning.
