Ten Little Christmas Presents

Ten Little Christmas Presents

by Jean Marzollo

"10 little Christmas presents, in a snowy line...

Mouse gets earmuffs! Now there are nine."

It's Christmas day!  One by one, each of the animals in the forest finds a present.  Porcupine gets mittens, Rabbit gets a new vest.  Blue Jay gets a bonnet.  But who is their Secret Santa?

It turns out Santa Bear has been hiding in the snow all along!  "Merry Christmas, Everyone!"

"The simplicity and relative lack of overlapping figures in the brightly colored illustrations make the idea easy to grasp as well as pleasing. For young children who understand the idea of presents, if not the more abstract concepts surrounding Christmas, this nicely designed picture book offers playful opportunities for counting gifts and matching pictures." — Booklist

"
Toddlers will like the simple, rhyming story and the sketchy, childlike illustrations, and preschoolers will like the reverse counting game. Teachers and librarians will find this a good fit for story hours about counting or Christmas presents..." — Kirkus Reviews

"Children will enjoy identifying the various woodland animals and reading the name labels on the different packages. Marzollo’s watercolor and ink illustrations are appropriately soft and colorful. The last spread has a memory game for children to guess again which presents came in which boxes, adding to the fun of this simple satisfying story." — School Library Journal

About the Author

Jean Marzollo When I was young, I liked to sew, play baseball, and read. I was drawn to poetry early in life. I loved to read, and one of my favorite books as a child was A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson. Also, my mother had several small poetry books on her bookshelf. With their leather covers and gold titles, they were treasures to me.
