The Popularity Papers

The Popularity Papers

by Amy Ignatow

Lydia and Julie are best friends on a mission: They're out to crack the coolness code. To do it they'll need to observe the popular girls up close and record their results in a super-secret notebook, for their eyes only.

Junior high school is only a year away. If they want to top the social scales by then they'll need to find out what makes these popular girls tick, and pronto. Julie is the artist, so she will do most of the writing and recording, and Lydia is braver, so she will be the guinea pig. Let the experiments begin!

As their observation begins to pay off, they realize that being popular is a lot more confusing than it looks. There are so many rules to learn and secrets to decipher. They'll have to figure out how to get cell phones from their parents and choose which boys to whisper about. They sign up for talent shows and stick-fighting classes, but nothing quite works out the way they imagine. The more they learn, the less time they seem to have for each other. Will their quest for school stardom end up fizzling their friendship?

Filled with playful doodles, this colorful hand-written journal contains the funny and unforgettable research of (almost) everything that's needed to ascend the status ladder.
