Christmas in the Country

Christmas in the Country

by Cynthia Rylant Illustrated by Diane Goode

Twenty years ago, Cynthia Rylant and Diane Goode brought readers a girl's childhood in the country in When I Was Young in the Mountains, which was awarded a Caldecott Honor for illustration. Now their new picture book, Christmas in the Country , brings the simple joys of the holiday season to families everywhere.

Boxes of treasured, homemade ornaments are finally brought out of the closet; an evergreen wreath brightens the front door; an oversized tree is squeezed into the living room; and relatives gather for a delicious, noisy meal. As fresh and bright as new-fallen snow, here is a warm and loving celebration of Christmas: the memorable moments we cherish, share, and hold in our hearts — always.
