Hello! During the summer, it can get pretty hot here in Camden Falls. Sometimes the grown-ups have barbecues in their backyards, and I like to play games with my sister and my friends. I'm going to share some of the games I like to play, so you can have your own summertime fun!

1.) A really fun game is one I call Runny Eggs.

What you need:
• Spoons
• Hard-boiled eggs

How to play:
First, you decide on a start line and finish line. Then, you just see which person can carry the egg on a spoon to the finish line the fastest without dropping it. If you drop it, you have to start back from the beginning! You can make a relay race out of it by breaking into teams and handing the egg and spoon to your partner who has to come back to the starting line.

2.) When it's really hot outside, I like to play Water Balloon Toss.

What you need:
• Balloons
• A garden hose or faucet to fill the balloons

How to play:
Fill up some balloons with water, and have each person pick a partner. Partners should stand facing each other with one person holding the balloon. The person who has the balloon tosses it to the other person. Each time the balloon is tossed, the team members take one step away from each other. Whichever team's balloon lasts the longest is the winning team! If you drop the balloon and it doesn't break, you're still in!

3.) A fun game to play to get to know your friends is an "I Like" race.

What you need:
• Friends!

How to play:
Decide on start and finish lines and choose one person to be the caller, like "Simon" in Simon Says. The caller goes to the finish line and the other kids line up next to each other on the start line. The caller's job is to shout out things that he or she likes, like "I like vanilla ice cream!" or "I like scary stories!" Everyone else who likes what the caller likes gets to take a step toward the finish line. The first person to get to the finish line wins! This is a really fun game to play if there are kids you've never met at your party.

Before you play these games, you can invite your friends over to make prizes for the winners. You can even put all these games together for backyard Olympics and make gold, silver, and bronze medals from crafts or construction paper! It's up to you. What's most important is that everyone has fun!
