Find Your Time Management Style
1.  When do you usually do your homework?
I sneak it in during class time, right after it's assigned
Sometime soon after I get home from school
At night after dinner or before I go to bed
I don't really have a set schedule — I'll do it whenever I can
2.  You have two chapters to read for Language Arts, but you promised your best friend you'd go to her softball game. What do you do?
Blow off the game, there will be other times to see her play
Go to the first part of the game but leave early
Take your book to the game and read when she's not on the field
Blow off your reading — there's always tomorrow morning
3.  Your Social Studies teacher announces you'll be taking a test in 2 weeks. How do you prepare?
Crack open the book before your teacher finishes the announcement
Begin study sessions with a classmate a week before, then spend a few days studying your notes alone
Start cramming 2 days before
Open the textbook and skim your notes for the first time the morning of the test
4.  How do you pack your lunch on school days?
I make it the night before and keep it in the fridge overnight
I pack it in the morning before I leave for school
I bring money with me and find food in the cafeteria
I never really think about lunch — I'll just mooch off friends
5.  Hooray! It's time for summer vacation. You have two books for required reading over break, so when do you plan on starting them?
As soon as the day school lets out
You'll read one in June, take a break, then read the other in late July or early August
Your family is taking a vacation in early August, so you'll read on the beach
A couple of days before school starts for the next year
6.  Which of the following best matches your work motto?
Just do it…NOW
With organization and balance, everything can get done
Go with the flow, dude
Yeah right, like I'd have a work motto
7.  You really don't want to do your science homework. You:
Do it anyway to get it over with
Take a 20-minute break, call your friend, and then get back to work
Watch a few hours of TV then stay up late trying to finish the assignment
Don't do it
8.  What's your favorite way to procrastinate?
I would never even think of procrastinating
Doing something quick but satisfying, like reading a chapter in a non-school book or talking on the phone with a friend
Vegging out in front of the TV or surfing the Internet
Let me count the ways: playing video games, making a snack, movie marathons, staring off into space…I will do anything to avoid work
9.  You just received a planner as a gift. What do you do with it?
I have my assignments, my friends' birthdays, all the major holidays, and a schedule of my club meetings color-coded in the planner, which I carry with me everywhere
Use it to write down homework and keep track of meetings or important dates as they come up
Tried it out for a couple of weeks but then realized it wasn't really my style to have a planner
Put it in my locker, where it stays unused
10.  What is likely to motivate you?
I don't need motivation, I always do work right away
Sometimes it's the idea of rising to a challenge, other times it's the satisfaction of getting an assignment over with
Knowing that if I get it done, I have more time to hang out and relax
To be honest, not much — I hate doing work
11.  You have a group project with three other students due in a week. How do you handle your portion of work?
Do most, if not all, of the project yourself with little help from the group within the first 2 days it's assigned
Work really hard on your equal portion throughout the week, then ask if anyone else needs help when you finish
Team up with another member and do your share of the project together a couple of days before it's due
Wait until everyone else finishes their part, hoping they did yours too. If they didn't, you'll do it the night before
12.  Choose the list in which two activities are in the order you'd most likely do them when arriving home from school:
Homework, chores, eat, watch TV
Chores, watch TV, homework, eat
Eat, homework, watch TV, chores
Watch TV, eat, chores, homework
13.  What's your usual routine for getting dressed for school?
I lay out my clothes the night before, including accessories and shoes
Before I go to bed I have an idea of what I'm going to wear to save time in the morning
I try on a few outfits in the morning and decide what to wear depending on my mood
Routine? I pick up whatever's clean from my floor and wear that!
14.  How do you normally plan for the weekend?
I won't plan anything else until I finish all my homework and chores.
If I planned something to do with family or friends, I'll schedule work around that.
I usually have something in mind that I want to do, and I'll save just enough time to do homework on Sunday night.
Whatever. It's the weekend, there's no planning needed.
15.  Which of the following do you consider your biggest strength?
Responsibility. I get to work right away, and I work hard.
My sense of time and due dates is great; I can balance a lot of assignments and activities.
Nothing stresses me out because I know I can finish work on time.
I'm really good at working under pressure and cranking stuff out at the last minute.
