SCHOLASTIC PARENT & CHILD MESSY EATER PHOTO CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES

ENTRY. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A purchase will not improve your chance of winning. To enter the Scholastic Parent & Child Messy Eater Photo Contest (the "Contest"), visit www.scholastic.com/kid-friendly-recipes and submit a photo of your child’s best messy face and a description of no more than 250 characters, along with your name and e-mail address. Contest begins August 1, 2013, 12:00 a.m. EDT and all entries must be received by September 30, 2013, 11:59 p.m. EDT. Parents/legal guardians can submit only one entry per household. In the event of a dispute over the identity of an online entrant, entry will be deemed submitted by the holder of the e-mail account. The entrant represents and warrants that he/she has all necessary permissions as to the photograph submitted in connection with the Contest in order to grant the rights set forth herein. Scholastic Inc. ("Scholastic") reserves the right to disqualify any entry they deem to be offensive, inappropriate, or not in keeping with their images, in their sole discretion.

ELIGIBILITY. Contest is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and Washington DC who are currently over the age of 18 and are the parent and/or legal guardian of at least one child up to the age of 18. Employees, and members of their families, of Scholastic, their parent organizations, subsidiaries, and affiliates, and their advertising, promotion and production agencies are not eligible to enter. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

JUDGING. The potential winner will be selected from among all eligible entries received by a panel of qualified independent judges employed by Scholastic based on adherence to the theme and quality of the submission. The decisions of the judges are final and binding. Scholastic reserves the right to not award any or all prizes if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of qualified and eligible entries.

WINNER & PRIZING. One Grand Prize Winner (the "Grand Prize Winner") will be selected by Scholastic from among all eligible entries on or about October 7, 2013 and notified by e-mail on or about October 11, 2013. The Grand Prize Winner will receive $100.

Prizes are non-transferable, non-assignable and no cash alternative will be offered except by Scholastic in the event of unavailability, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. Taxes on prizes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner. If a Prize or Prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner chooses to decline the Prize for any reason, or the potential winner fails to comply with these Official Rules and all the requirements set forth herein, the Prize may be forfeited and, at Scholastic's discretion, awarded to a runner-up.

USE OF ENTRY: By submitting an entry each entrant agrees Scholastic shall own the entry submitted (including all rights embodied therein in the winning entry) and that it and its designees may exploit, edit, publish, use, adapt, modify, or dispose of any entry and elements embodied therein, , including but not limited to the entrant’s and their child’s name, likeness, hometown and biographical information, online, in print, film, television, or in any other media now or hereafter known for advertising, promotional, or other purposes throughout the world, in perpetuity, without additional compensation or notification to, or permission of the entrant except as prohibited by law. The entrant represents and warrants that he/she has all rights in the entry to be able to grant to Scholastic the rights set forth herein. The potential Grand Prize Winner may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within ten (10) business days of notification attempt or an alternative winner may be selected.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: By entering, entrant agrees to release and hold harmless Scholastic and its respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, and promotion agencies, promotional parties, prize providers and all others associated with the development, promotion and execution of this Contest, and the respective officers, directors, shareholders, agents, and employees of the foregoing (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all claims, injuries, damages, or losses to the person or property and/or liabilities of any nature that in any way arise from participation in this Contest or acceptance or use of the Prize. If Scholastic discovers at any time, during or after the Contest, that an entry contained infringing material, the entrant that submitted the entry will be immediately disqualified and will be obligated to immediately return any and all prizes that may have been awarded to him/her in connection with their entry. In the event the Contest is compromised by non-authorized human intervention, virus, bugs, or other causes beyond the control of Scholastic which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness, or proper play of the Contest, Scholastic reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify, suspend, or terminate the Contest or any portion thereof and/or terminate the participation of any participant (and void his/her entry) whose conduct potentially compromises the Contest and at its sole discretion to award the any or all of the Prizes from among all eligible non-suspect entries received prior to termination using the judging procedures outlined above. Released Parties are not responsible for late, lost, stolen, inaccurate, garbled, damaged, illegible, undelivered, delayed, misdirected, or postage-due entries or mail; interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections; for lack of availability or accessibility, or miscommunications due to failed computer, satellite, telephone, or cable transmissions or lines; for technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions; for computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures, or difficulties; or for any other computer, network, technical, typographical, human or other error, problem, or malfunction related to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors, problems, or malfunctions that may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the announcement of the prize, the processing or judging of entries, or any Contest-related materials. Released Parties are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest and assume no responsibility for any injury or damage to participants' or to any other persons' computer (whether hardware or software), relating to or resulting from downloading materials or software in connection with this Contest.
