Family of the Year Criteria
Winner will be selected from among all eligible entries received by Scholastic Parent & Child editors based equally on a number of factors, including:
  • Clarity of essay
  • Amount of personal time invested in making a difference and giving back to the community
  • The impact of entrant’s efforts

One grand prize-winning family will be selected to appear on the cover of the June/July 2012 issue of Scholastic Parent & Child magazine!

No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. The Scholastic 2012 Family of the Year Contest (the “Contest”) will begin November 1, 2011, and will end at 11:59 EST on March 15, 2012. Contest entry is open to only current legal residents of the 50 United States (including D.C.) who are over the age of 18 at the time of entry and who are parents or legal guardians in a “family” as defined by the official rules. An individual who is 18 years or older at the time of submission may also nominate a “family” for entry into the Contest. Employees and members of their families of Scholastic Inc. and its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, promotional partners and production agencies are not eligible to enter. To enter (and for official rules), visit www.scholastic.com/familyoftheyear, where the entrants/nominating individuals will be required to submit at least one essay and at their discretion, provide other supporting materials. One Grand Prize winner and his/her family (as defined in the official rules) will appear on the cover of the June/July 2012 issue of Scholastic Parent & Child magazine; be featured in an article inside the June/July 2012 issue; will receive a trip to New York City; and will receive $20,000 in savings bonds.
