I am so cold and hungry all the time now. Father has lost his job, and Mother is doing her best to create dinners out of the little vegetables we have in our garden. Scarlett cried all afternoon. Mother said she thinks she is sick. Oh, Scarlett can't die! She hasn't yet seen life in the fullest. Oh let her live God. I don't know what I would do without her.
