THe Great Depression

By: Lillian E
Florida, Grade: 7

It seemed that America was invincible but when Herbert Hoover was president the stock markets crashed and many people lost their jobs. When I heard about this I thought I was going to die.One day my mom had waken me up very early because we were moving west to California. My family was one of the first to move to California. There my dad got a very good job. ONe night we saw a lot of lights and figured out that other Mexicans wanted a better life. After a while things began looking good until there was more people than jobs. This began getting from bad to worse. When the Mexicans started protesting against the low wages the California state and government, they blamed us and we became targets for descrimination. When they figured out what to do they told us to go back from where we came. When we got back to Mexico we thought over our troubles and decided to elect a new president for our country.
