Hello, Papa has given me you because he thinks that I need some one to talk to so that I do not bother him. He thinks that I talk a great deal. Oh I almost forgot Diary! My name is Marie Fenai. I have 6 sisters and 4 brothers. Papa has been very depreesed latley. I think that he just needs to do something, but Helen (our cook) says it has to do with the stock market. I do not understand what that is. Mama whines and whines that she needs a maid but papa says there is not enough money. He says that we will soon have to sell are beautiful home! Mama is furious!

I know I have not written in a long time but there has not been enough time!Today I got so mad at mama I felt like I wanted to strike her. I have never felt that before. She does not understand what is going on! We do not have nearly enough money for food! How would we have enough for a maid! I understand because Papa called me into the parlour. He told me what is going on. He says that Charles (my oldest brother) will have to find another place for us to live! Papa said that we wwill have to sell our home soon other wise we will go broke! I am so sad now.
