In 1929 the Great Depression came. Not many people were lucky. Some people were so poor that they were living on the street. But some people ran a boarding house and people could live there. In 1933 president Rossevelt was electet presedent. He came up with a idea that was called the New Deal. The New Deal was to help poor people. So the depression was a sad time.
