Dear Diary,
I should have known that the weather would go bad. I should have known our crops would die. If I went to school, I would have known that. I'm on the bunk of our truck now, looking after my siblings. For now, it's the only home we have. We have some water stored, but I'm already thirsty, and Daddy says to save it for when we really need it. It's too bad I had to leave my doll behind, but at least I could bring you and a quilt along. Well, so long Diary, Daddy is stopping at the general store to buy food and gas.
