The Great Depression

December 25, 1931.

It is not a good time in the United States. You would think it would be great, presents and fun and good food. It's the exact opposite. The stock market crashed, and now my family is poor. We must all go to work. For that I was lucky. Millions of people couldn't even find a job, yet we did. That is our Christmas present. Recently, a humongus dust storm turned up in our area. The dust looked black and scary. Some people died. Mother and Father say we must move to California. I fear that if we go to California, we will become unemployed again, and have to live on the streets. I just wish everything could be back to normal, and that we could have a peaceful, happy, fun Christmas next year. I just hope so...
