The Dust Bowl

By: Christina S
Florida, Grade: 8

My family and I were living in a farm in Oklahoma during the time period of the 1930's. My fathers farm was great we had all sorts of animals. My father also made plenty of money to support our family by growing crops. Life was great I couldnt complain only for the fact that my sister was a nucince. The so called paradise of mine was over when the ''Black Lizard'' arrived. My mother told me it was temperarly but ity wasnt this Lizard lasted week and weeks because of the droughts. My father lost business quickly and my mother couldnt take the dust any longer. My father forced us to move westward to California were the soil was rich and we had better oppertunities but thats where everyone was headed so it was tuff living. With the stockmarket crash my father was no longer getting paid well. We were forced to live in boxes. Everynight I prayed to God to give me my paradise back but that never happened.
