By: Fontaine F
North Carolina, Grade: 6

It was hard when I was crossing the border with my mom. Me and Mama where all alone by our self. But I had a doll that Papa gave me for my birthday after he died.We had to leave abuilita alone at Mexico in El Rancho Grande. We are in a train write now and we are heading to California. My mom is going to work in farming. When we get there it is going to be really different we are going to dress different. And when we get there we are going to work so hard so we can earn money and then get a big house like we had in Mexico. And we are going to learn english so we can talk to the americans, and we can make friends and go to school and get a better job
