The Great Depression

By: Pal D
California, Grade: 7

The great depression was the time when Americans suffered an economic crisis. It was also the time when Esperanza was a child. People had lost their jobs and homes. I was one of those people. My parents lost their jobs because the store owners couldn't pay everybody so they had to lay off a few people and my parents were one of them. I had to find a job at the age of 13.
My parents had found jobs but they were getting paid very little because so many people were working. Nobody celebrated holidays or birthdays because no one could afford it. Things started looking better after people striked because know people were getting paid more money. Then people started to buy houses again and everything started to look better.
