March 21 1929
oh little diary i love you so much im so thrilled dad got me this diary with the little money he has. he spent most of it for this little diary i will love you with all my heart diary i must stop writing mom is calling my name.
march 22 1929
dear diary
today was one of the best days ever mom dad and my older sister jen put all of there money together and got 1.02 we have money to finally buy a chicken! so now we will not have to starve.

sorry for missing a day i could not find the silver pen in the house nothing is new today but im in my room rereading you a hundred times trying to make sure you are perfect little diary but i do have something i want to say can someone die of being bored

something bad is happening all around the world people are going through something they call the great depression some people around the world are dieing because they do not have any money to buy food isn't that horrible little one right now we are good for food and have a far amount of money and dad still has his job . well before i leave i dont know why but i want to right down what we have for food we have moms garden that has carrots tomatoes and squash a chicken that can bring us eggs and far money to get us some meat.march 31

im so mad right now dad lost his job right now my family is looking for jobs but i have something i found that i can make money from selling chickens eggs i have been selling then for five days and have 2.59 what i say is for half a dozen eggs you just need 10 cents apparently a lot of people like that deal.

i am now telling my family my job they are so happy they said after the great depression they might get me a new dress.
p.s i have made 4.12 when i have 5.00 me family is going shopping for food
