My Life As Elizabith

By: Catherine M
Texas, Grade: 6

Dear Diary: Daddy went off to find a better job two months ago, but he never came back. Ever since my mom has been the brave one in the family. I guess you could say that we are lucky because we have a real home. You know the one that is not on the side of the road. When I woke up this morning, mom had hot pancakes on the table which was very unusual because we do not have alot of money. My mother and I sell eggs down at the farmers market. It's not that easy living this way. You bathe in cold and dirty water and sleep with blankets with holes in them. When the big cold winds come in it gets mighty cold in the house. Momma says that will end soon and that we will be rich again. When I go to bed at night, I wish that this will all would end now!
