Esperanza was a girl who grew up in a rich family, but one day that all changed... Esperanza's mothers uncle, wanted to marry her, because in mexico you could marry your relatives, and she refused. So one night, the night right after Esperanza's birthday, they set her house on fire. the day before her birthday party, her dad went missing and supposedly died, and for her birthday her dad got her a porcelain doll that looked exactly like her. Dark, long, wavy black hair,and a beautiful face. She took that with her and then she had to travel all the way to California to find a job. They had to work on a servant farm, Esperanza had never worked so hard in her life.So the other girls made fun of her, but she tried her hardest to ignore them. In the end, everybody was happy.
