It was 1931 and I packed up to leave you know why,the dust bowl. The skys were gray.People were moving all over the USA to get out of here. I was going to California to be safe we didnt know what to do with our chickens, cows, horses, and pigs. we didnt think we could bring them. But, we didnt know there were worse things coming.
The depression was here. Everyone was unemployed and homeless. we were more fortunate than others we could afford a house and my mom had a job. I was able to go to school and learn but we were going to be just like everyone soon enough because they were having to pay us less because they were getting less money so my mom was getting about 3 dollars an hour. To my surprise FDR made the New deal after we elected him and the economy was back there were less people on the streets people could afford community homes and we were able to get another farm. We never really had any problems with the dust bowl any more. Actually I forgot all about it and I was back to normal with new friends and a new home and that was my experience for the great depression.
