Father has lost his job! Mother was laid off. I fear we will be evicted, like Olivia Smith's family. The bank took their house without a second thought and threw them out in the streets with all of their belongings. Father says he is going to look for work tomorrow, but I know it is hopeless. In San Francisco these days, work is as scarce as happiness. Mother is going to look for a second job. These are depressing days during the Great Depression.
