The day we arrived at camp was a rough and exhausting one. When we finally got there, Mama was ready to become a real worker and give up her nice smooth hands for rough ones like Camila had. I know that we moved here for the better, but I don't think it is better than our peach farm back down in Mexico. Remember how I told you about Papa and how he had a heart attach and died? Well, Abuelita had one to, though she did not die. We had to leave her down in Mexico until she recovered and could meet us there. Juan said that she would be here soon although I can not be sure. When I saw where we would be living I was horrified. I knew that the living conditions would be shabby but I didn't expect this! At least there are two cute little babies I have to watch everyday while everyone keeps up the harvest. I learn from this little girl named Isabella and she lives right with us! In the same cabin! She is teaching me a lot though. Every night I have to sweep the platform out in the middle of camp. Thankfully,Isabella taught me how to sweep before I humiliated myself in front of this rude girl named Martina. She hitched a ride from our truck driver and apparently she lives in our camp and is in love with Juan!! I can't believe it. I have this feeling every time they start talking and I don't know what it is. Well I have to go, for everyone is leaving to go to work and I have to watch the babies with Isabella. I will try to write again as soon as I can for I know it will be very busy the next few days. Also I will try to figure out what the feeling is that I get every time I see Martina and Juan chatting away like long lost lovers. I know that Juan has never been here before, yet he acts like their best friends. I really have to go now, Mama is calling me. Write to you soon!! Margerita
