It was depressing and hard. They needed money too help pay for food,water,etc. for their families. Well all we can say is they had to drink water and get thier food from their farm animals.It was depressing and they were desprate for money. Would you have helped them? Would you want them to help you? You would want all the help you could get so think about how they felt!!!!!!!
Here are some diffrences between now and then:
They had water we have soda. We have fancy clothes they had those frenssy clothes girls HAD to wear a dress.
