The Dust Is Back

By: Anne H
Arkansas, Grade: 5

The Dust has been coming and going. Pa and I blame President Hoover for all the dust and homeless people. My best friend Mary Alice Foster is now living with her brother Leo and her parents in a tent inside their barn hoping the barn would shield them from some of the dust. We are all caked with black dust making it hard to tell who is black and who is white. Sometimes i wish Ma was still with us here at home, and not in the ground with the only an engraved rock to mark her place. Why did the dust have to come and take my Ma away from Pa and me.
