The Switch

New Jersey, Grade: 6

Today Ma annouced that we were going to go make our home a boarding house. We have to, Ma explained, so we can have enough money. It's so unfair!! Ma said that we would need by bedroom for boarders, so I have to move to the attic! Worse of all, I have to share it with Renee. Renee is so annoying. She insists that she at least doesn't have to use the attic furnature. Ma, to my happiness, said that she would have to since we did not have enough money to buy new furnature. She said we would flip a coin tommorow to decide how we would split the furnature. So, here I am writing in this journal the last time I will be able to in my warm, room. At least there was one good thing: I would be able to escape this pink. My mother thought I liked pink when she made my room: so everything was bubblegum pink. A bubblegum pink walls, bedspread, rug, and even a pink bookcase.
Even though it is all pink, I want to stay in my room! The attic was hot, stuffy, and damp. And especially sharing it with Renee. I would have not one ounce of privacy. She would make sure of that.
