The Great Depression started in 1929. I was 10 years old and was very poor. My father and mother died during a drought in the country. I had nothing to eat and was sick. I had to eat scraps off the street and sleep under a tree. By 1933 they elected president Delano Roosevelt. Soon the new president came up with The New Deal to give people jobs and I was adopted.
