The date is Wednsday, July 2, 1930 in the Ironbound neighborhood of Newark, NJ. I am a 20-year-old sophomore at Rutgers University whose future is looking bleek. On my daily routine, I get out of bed at 4 in the morning, eat my mama's oatmeal with dried purple grapes and potato buds for breakfast, and then walk to my parents house to help out with their lemonade business.
