Yesterday was black as midnight! We had a real bad duster, and we spent the morning cleaning the house. Now I have some free time to write in this journal, but supper will be soon, so this is all I can say:
Yesterday we had a duster, and it was so bad, even when we clogged the windows with gummed tape, we could still feel grit up our noses. The little ones were crying, and Dennis told 'em not to open their mouthes so wide, as they would get dust pneumonia. That made 'em sob even harder! So then Ma calmed 'em down finally, then scolded Dennis. Pa told us all to get down, as there was a-gonna be a big wind in a minute. Again, Dennis didn't behave, and he got sand up his nose, in his ears, and other unpleasant places. So now Pa's a-gonna whop 'im behind the barn after supper. Speakin' of supper, I thnk I wrote a bit too much, 'cause Ma is a-callin' for me to go wash up.
