Dear Journal,
Today is October 28, 1937. The Dust Bowl is still going on and life is very hard. This morning I woke up at 7:45 A.M. and got ready for school. My cloths are very dirty because I can't get anything new and I can't clean them. I put on my gas mask and went to school. When I got to school, I took the mask off and started my work. At 2:50 P.M. I put my mask back on and walked home. When I got home I said hi to my mom and started my homework. I finished my homework and finished the banana I started four days ago. I wish I could have a fresh banana, but I can't go to the market to get a new one.
Dear Journal,
Today is November 6, 1937. I just found out that my best friends' brother died because he forgot to wear his gas mask to school, and got too much dust in his lungs. I felt so bad for him and I realized how important wearing my gas mask is. Right now I am in my room and thinking what life would be like after the Dust Bowl. I hope it will be over soon! So farewell until then!
