Things in the United States have gone from bad to worse. My family and I actually had to go through a bread line today! I felt so embarrassed. The money that we had received from selling our house finally ran out. I knew that it wasn’t going to last forever. My mom and I both know that dad would have to find a job sometime, but he seems to have stopped trying. My mom, however, is not ready to give up that easily. She told me that she was going to find a job even if she had to take it out from under someone else’s nose! However, I have another plan.
I am going to try and write a letter to President Hoover. Now dear diary, you might be thinking that it’s a silly idea. You might be thinking that one letter can’t make a difference, but that’s not true. If he knew how his people were suffering, he might try to fix it. America used to be prosperous, and I believe that if we try hard enough, it could be that way again. I will keep you posted, dear diary.
