Now that you've
met the character Esperanza, it's time to set your imagination free and
pretend you, too, lived during her time.
Use the slide show to learn more about the Great Depression, the time
period when Esperanza was growing up.
Then, write a journal entry as if you were there — you'll be creating
historical fiction. This writing genre combines research about what occurred
with your own imagination about what it would feel like to personally experience
historical events and time periods.
