Dear Little Book,
So much has happened in the little time I have not written to you. Rumors swirl around like wind on a cool autumn night. Terror has swept over Salem, who will be next? Trust worthy neighbors cast suspicious eyes at each other. Just this morning during Sunday Sermon Martha shouted,"Now stand up and name your text!" The people of Salem starred at Martha in bewilderment! I myself could not help but starring at my childhood friend. Rev. Parris looked at the young girl with an expressionless face. He murmmed a soft reply. By now I had chills sleeking up my spine. The church had an eerie silence sweep over it. But before long Martha mocked the Rev. with, "It's a long one." Never before has the people of Salem seen such a daring act, interupting the Rev. during service! When all was returning back to normal the Reverend continued. He closed the Sunday sermon with a prayer. Woman passed concerned glances spread across their faces at Martha. Children ran ahead to exchange whispers.

Later......

That night at dinner Mother, Father, and I ate in silence. The day's events racing through our heads. I excused myself early from dinner to be in my room. As I bent down to do my nightly prayers, I heard Father discussing something with Mother. "Old Myr found guilty of witchcraft. She will be hung tomorrow at Gallows Hill. I pray the good Lord is with us now more than ever. God bless that old woman's soul." I couldn't believe what I had just heard! "Old Myr....hung tomorrow!" She wouldn't harm an ant! Let alone some innocent child! I fell to my knees and begged the Lord for forgiveness for what I'm about to do.
