Dear Little Book,
I have no idea where to begin.
Today was awful in many ways. I went to the trial of Old Myr
today. Mother told me I should not, I wish I would have listened
to her. Old Myr was on the stand, showing no emotion. I wanted
to shout out something but even if I could what would I say?
Martha accused Old Myr of being a witch over
and over again. I could not take it so I walked out of the
church. I walked out on the trail and guess who followed me?
Marret Johnson. He said he would walk me home, not wanting
to be alone I said thank you. We walked in silence for a little
while, then he said "tis awful, what they are doing.
I believed for a little while, in witches and curses but now
I realize it tis wrong . Rebecca did you know they are going
to hang the witches?" I could not believe what he just
said, I broke into tears and Marret said he was sorry for
upsetting me. I told him it was not his fault. He took my
arm and I cried until I got to my front door. " If you
need me, please get me." Marret said quickly, and kissed
my hand as he was leaving. I just went to my room and stayed
there. At dinner mother called me - but I could not come to
the table, my head hurt too much. Mother gave me some powder,
and now I feel that I must rest. Dear little book Good night.
