About the Author
Gay Su Pinnell is an experienced primary teacher and a Professor in the School of Teaching and Learning of The Ohio State University College of Education. She provides leadership, research, and development for a comprehensive literacy project designed to support children's learning to read and write. She is co-author of Guided Reading: Good First Teaching for All Children; Word Matters: Teaching Phonics and Spelling in the Reading/Writing Classroom; Help America Read: A Handbook for Volunteers; and Partners in Learning: Teachers and Children in Reading Recovery. She is a member of the Hall of Fame of the International Reading Association and has received the Ohio Governor's Award for service to education.
