From Campaign 2011: Lesson 3: Puppet Play
Teach students the steps to fire safety through imaginative play.
OBJECTIVE
To teach students the importance of fire safety through imaginative play.
MATERIALS
Classroom Poster, Student Worksheet 3, crayons, scissors, tape
DIRECTIONS
1. Hang the Classroom Poster in an easy-to-see location. Say: Can you spot some characters practicing fire safety? (Rapunzel looking for two ways out of each room, Snow White practicing a fire drill, Three Blind Mice testing the smoke alarm, Three Bears looking at sprinklers).
2. Distribute copies of Student Worksheet 3. Have children color, cut out, and tape together the finger puppet characters.
3. Invite students to use the puppets to retell fairy tales and fire-safety messages in their own words.
