From Campaign 2010: LESSON 2: FIRE-SAFETY TIME LINE
Kids will practice reading a time line as they learn about important fire safety moments in history.
To build knowledge about history and important inventions, while teaching students how to read a time line.
1.Tell students that smoke alarms alert people to get outside and stay outside in case of fire. This great invention saves lives every day. Tell students that the smoke alarm was invented in 1890.
2.Distribute copies of the Fire-Safety Time Line . Tell students that smoke alarms are
just one of many amazing fire-safety inventions. Some of the other inventions are shown on the time line.
3. Have students work in pairs to read the time line and answer the questions.
4. Distribute the Family Newsletter and the Bonus Family Worksheet 3-5 to continue student learning at home.
