Sydney Pardo lives in California and was born in 1999.

•    Sydney loves to read. "Nothing is impossible when you open a book and dive into its pages," she says.

•    In her spare time, Sydney like to figure skate, bake cakes, and work on her creative writing.

•    She is a member of the Girl Scouts and estimates she has sold "thousands of boxes of Girl Scout cookies."

•    In addition to journalism, Sydney is interested in a career as a pastry chef.

"I am always wondering why things happen, how I can do something courageous, and how I can teach others. Reporting involves all these things. From being a reporter, I hope to learn more about myself and the world."
