Election 2012: Primaries: January - Februray

Seven Republican candidates entered the Republican primary contest. The first test: the Iowa caucuses. Mitt Romney was initially declared the winner of Iowa, although it was later determined that Rick Santorum was the true victor. But the candidates couldn't dwell on Iowa for long – there were other important primaries on the horizon, like New Hampshire and South Carolina. And after every big test, another candidate dropped out of the race, bringing the nomination closer to being decided.
