READ 180 Community Newsletter – Volume 24

Dear READ 180 Educator,

The end of the year is upon us and now is the perfect time to look back and reflect on all that you have accomplished over the past ten months! We are so proud of the continued success of READ 180, but we know that READ 180 is only as successful as its teachers, coordinators, reading coaches, and administrators. You are undeniably the key to your students' success, and we are so grateful for your dedication to raising literacy achievement and making that success possible.

The last few weeks of the school year really fly by and, before you know it, you will be on summer vacation! All year you have been working to boost reading achievement, so how can you continue to keep your students learning this summer? This issue of the READ 180 Community e-Newsletter will focus on ways to extend learning outside the classroom. A break from school doesn't need to be a break from learning, keep up your students' momentum with reading this summer with helpful tips from the READ 180 Community!

But—your students shouldn't be the only ones learning new things this summer. As educators, there is a lot of preparation that takes place over the summer months for the next school year. And what better way to start preparing and learning new ideas than from your colleagues at the 2010 READ 180 National Summer Institute! The Institute provides an excellent opportunity to participate in four days of comprehensive professional development, engage with the nation's leading literacy experts, and select from over 90 Elective Workshops tailored to your needs. So as summer approaches, I'd like to invite you to attend the Institute and also remind you to register today as space is filling up fast!

From everyone at Scholastic and READ 180, have a safe and enjoyable summer. We are looking forward to helping you jumpstart the school year in the fall!

Best regards,

The READ 180 Team
