Worksheet Printables: Conversions Rock
Expect the Unexpected with Math™
Use the worksheet printables below to support your teaching of the Conversions Rock program. Each student worksheet accompanies a classroom lesson. The worksheets provide a “Work Tips” box for pointers to help solve problems, and a bonus activity to reinforce and broaden skills.
In addition, the Conversions Rock Mini-Poster provides a handy equivalent conversions chart for students.- Student Worksheet 1: “Stardom: Just a Fraction Away” (PDF): Nikki, the guitarist for the rock band The Conversions, is far into fractions. Students practice skills for converting fractions to decimals and percents by answering questions to see how Nikki uses fractions to help the band divide up everything from pizza to profits. A bonus activity asks students to use ratios and proportions to determine how much each band member and the band manager get when the cost of the band’s album increases. Use with Lesson 1.
- Student Worksheet 2: “Rock to the Top with Decimals” (PDF): Dezzy, the drummer for The Conversions, digs decimals. Students practice skills for converting decimals to fractions and percents by answering questions to see how Dezzy uses decimals to figure out logistical questions about the band’s travel arrangements, ticket sales, or mailing list. A bonus activity asks students to use decimals, percents, and fractions to answer questions about the results of the band’s recent e-mail to fans. Use with Lesson 2.
- Student Worksheet 3: “Show Me the Money with Percents” (PDF): Bailey, the lead singer for The Conversions, has a passion for percents because they help her understand the income and expenses in the band’s budget. Students practice skills for converting percents to decimals and fractions by answering questions to see how well the band is budgeting. A bonus activity asks students to use percents to figure out a question about extra income from a larger show. Use with Lesson 3.
