Lesson Plans
The Constitution in Today's America
After learning about the development and role of the Constitution, students will study different sections of the Constitution through a research activity and write an essay that considers what the country would be like without the Constitution.
The Jury System
Teach students an important aspect of the Constitution: the jury system. Learning about the jury system is key to understanding how the Constitution was developed in order to engage citizens in their government and ensure individual liberty.
Voting and the Constitution
Teach students about the Constitution's many provisions for voting. Students will participate in an informal discussion of the election process, including the Electoral College and the evolution of voting rights.
We the People
In this lesson students will gain understanding of how the Constitution protects the rights of citizens by reviewing a mock newspaper article in which a person's Constitutional rights are denied.
What Makes an Amendment?
Students will gain understanding of the amendment process of the United States Constitution by proposing their own "class amendments."
