The Loser List: Revenge of the Loser (EBK)

The Loser List: Revenge of the Loser (EBK)

    by H.N. Kowitt

Life is looking up for Danny Shine. His name is no longer on the Loser List in the girls' bathroom and he's even managed to sit down with some girls during lunch. But then Ty Randall breezes into the cafeteria, a new kid from California who charms everyone with his cool attitude and eco-friendly lifestyle. All the girls go crazy over this California dreamboat and the Earth Day festival called Green-a-palooza that he is organizing.

Danny thinks the new Vampire Slugs comic he drew is pretty great, but he knows it can't compete with Green-a-palooza. To outshine Ty, Danny will have to come up with something truly special of his own—a mega-project so big, so buzz-worthy, unselfish, and good that no one can ignore it—least of all Asia O'Neill, the cutest girl in school. Danny may know just how to do it—he can win Asia's heart and embarrass Ty in a single stroke. But how far is Danny willing to go?

A small jealousy leads to a big mess as Danny runs himself ragged trying to outdo a rival who seems to be better than him in every way.

    Loser List, The (EBK)

    by H.N. Kowitt

Danny Shine loves reading comics, drawing comics, and hanging out at Comix Nation. He doesn't think he's a geek, but everyone else at his middle school does. When Danny finds out his name has been added to the Loser List in the girls' bathroom, he freaks out. First of all, it's not true! But more importantly, he can't let Asia O'Neill, the prettiest girl in school, see it or else she'll never speak to him.

Danny's got to get his name off that list, and fast, but this is harder than it sounds. Along the way he will get tossed into detention, mixed up with the school's biggest bully, and find himself losing his one true friend. If Danny can't learn to stick up for himself and embrace his inner geek, he may be stuck as a friendless loser forever.

This is a very funny story about one kid's quest to prove to his crush, and himself, that being a geek is something to be proud of.

About This Book

Donald Zinkoff is a loser, but he doesn't know it. Even when his classmates discover it, Zinkoff is too busy experiencing life to listen to them.

About the Author

Jerry Spinelli won the Newbery Medal for Maniac Magee, the sixth of his more than fifteen acclaimed books for young readers. Growing up, he played no fewer than five different sports, including football, track, and basketball. He wanted to be a shortstop in the majors long before it occurred to him to be a writer. Crash came out of his desire to include the beloved Penn Relays of his home state of Pennsylvania in a book. And, of course, to show the world a little bit about athletes and what makes some of them tick. Jerry Spinelli lives in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
