    Cardboard (EBK)

    Cardboard (EBK)

    by Doug TenNapel

It's Cam's birthday, and his dad wants to buy him a present—but only has 78 cents in his pocket. Then a strange old man sells him a cardboard box for exactly that price, with the promise that it's much more than it appears to be. That night, Cam and his dad build a robot out of the box—and amazingly, it comes to life! Soon Bill the robot is reading sci-fi at breakfast, cheerfully mowing the grass after lunch, and teaching Cam how to box in the afternoon.

When neighborhood bully Marcus lays his eyes on Bill, he decides he has to have some of the magic cardboard himself. But Marcus's creations are a product of his twisted imagination—and when they slip out of his control, he is horrified to discover what his mind really contains. He teams up with Cam, Cam's dad, and their trusty robot to save the neighborhood from total destruction. Can they call on their powers of inspiration in time?
