About This Book

Tails of puppy love — and doggie mishaps!  This hilarious and delightful new series about adorable puppies who just can't behave...and how the most troublesome canine is still a kid's best friend.

Fifth-grader Parker hadn't considered getting a dog, but when playful Merlin, a golden retriever, comes into his life, Parker is thrilled.  The two are inseparable from day one — because whenever Parker tries to leave, Merlin escapes his fence or cage and follows him!  Can anything make this lovable dog sit and STAY?

Excerpt from Pet Trouble: Runaway Retriever

The dog hurtled toward me.  He wasn't even a little bit scary.  He just looked really, really excited to say hello.  Which is what he did, by leaping up and planting his paws on my shoulders and licking my face all over.

"Ew, GROSS!" Katie yelled.

"It's OK," I said. I got on my knees and the dog sat down in front of me.  His tail went thump thump thump on the porch.   This dog had the hugest grin I'd ever seen.   I got the weird feeling he agreed with me about how dopey Katie and Sarah were.

"Come in and I'll get you his stuff," Katie said.  "We got a crate for him, but good luck keeping him inside it!"
