Get Lost In Reading

Journey into the world of imagination with these activities that reinforce key reading strategies to help build a lifelong love of stories.

Activity 2: Get Lost in Reading

Materials: “Get Lost in Reading” Student Worksheet C

Essential question: What is the most inspiring book you’ve ever read and why?

  1. Read the following phrases out loud: FLOATING LAGOONS; A MASSIVE FLOATING BODY OF WATER; SUSPENDED IN MIDAIR.
  2. Explain that these are actual descriptions from the Pan script, describing what Peter sees when he first gets to Neverland. Anthropologists, psychologists, and other scientists agree that storytelling is one of the most important ways that we learn about each other. Discuss how, through the shared experience of stories, we connect and inspire one another.
  3. Distribute copies of Student Worksheet C. Assign a due date for students to write blog posts about their favorite books, on the Pan-sponsored InkSpot Blog at scholastic.com/pan/blog!
